50 Series Passenger Cars    (Circa 1901-02)

Early handpainted baggage

Early hand painted baggage Circa 1901 - 1902 with loop couplers, cast iron wheels and embossed peds.

red handpainted clerestories

Dark Green variation of the above baggage, has early cast iron wheels, embossed peds and loop couplers.

Unusual yellow / orange hand painted baggage car

It's actually rare to find any two of these hand painted cars the same, but here is what is probably the most common in red, white and black

2 black stripes around white band under window.

Enlarged photo to show detail and better color definition, note the tin wheels date this one to 1903.

Notice this car has no vestibules which is the way it was made. The first several years Ives cataloged a No. 0 and a No. 1 set, both used the No. 0 locomotive and a single 51 passenger car, the only difference was that in Set No. 0 the car had no vestibules, in Set No. 1 the passenger car came with vestibules.

two white stripes, no band under window

Basically the same car with vestibules

Yellow and black baggage

Unusual color in Yellow with black trim.

Tin wheels on this one

Another unusual color in Orange or was it originally yellow, and black. The car below has the cast iron wheels and stripped in black.

Very unusual, this one is deep red with a black stripe below the windows and gold striping, note also the black clerestory in the roof with gold stripped vents.

Matching green

Very unusual shade of green, only one I've seen in this color.
