Tender No. 11    (Circa 1909-15)

Not sure what this went with - only seen two of them and both were orphans, but the coupler on the piece is the same that was found on Brooklyn style cars and suggests 1909  this tender is gunmetal gray with no lettering, although it has a frame with full hatching.

Probably from around 1910-11 this tender still has the litho L.V.E. No. 11, but a plain green frame with hook coupler.

Circa 1910, this is a smoth sided LVE No. 11 with a large hook coupler, although the body looks pre-1910, the hook coupler probably started in 1910.

Obviously from 1912 or 1913, this tender can be dated by it's red litho L.V.E. markings, automatic coupler. and plain black frame. Some of these tenders can be found with green frames.

LVE 11 tender with a plain frame and just a slot for a hook coupler like a floor tender, but this one has track wheels.

Circa 1910-13 - This plain frame, smooth sided No. 11 was actually made to be a floor toy. Below is a picture from the bottom showing there was never any coupler attached to it, just a hook slot. The track wheels appear original and not totally uncommon to find IVES pieces designed as floor toys being used with track wheels. Obviously the cars that came with this tender had hook couplers.

Upside down!

Circa 1913-15 this No. 11 tender is painted black with no litho. The lettering has changed from L.V.E. to just IVES No. 11. Oddly the example above has the lettering upside down. The example below has a hook coupler and is earlier than the one above. It must have been a bad year, the example below has the printing off-center.

oops

More unusual this example has an oval border around the lettering.

No 11 as it should look

Circa 1913, No. 11 tender
