No 3218 (Circa 1911-13) | |||||||||||||||
The 3218 was first cataloged in 1911, although some claim it was made in 1910, this is doubtful in that very few can be found today with hook couplers(1910-11). Note the different color variations and trim shown on this page. The 3218 was always cataloged with the 60 series Harvard/Yale cars - except in 1912 it was cataloged with 129-130 series cars.
Circa 1912 - Deep maroon with gold raised lettering, separate black pilot, automatic couplers, Red window, red steps and vent trim. Maroon with red trim on windows, vents and steps. Deep red with Black windows, vents and steps. Also note that stripping on top is gold/black on this one and gold/red above. This example has automatic couplers and the resistance switch for the headlight, 1912 Everything is a variation and sometimes it's hard to find two the same - the door is painted black on this one.
Bright red locomotive with silver windows, vents and steps. Gold raised lettering, black riveted pilots with gold trim. Later variation with auto couplers and resistance switch - Circa 1912-13 This one is maroon with bright orange trim, auto couplers and the resistance switch. This example is almost a deep purple with red trim.
Here's a little different look. The raised lettering is black, the journals are gold.
Underside of loco above showing single pickup, reverse unit and screw holding on pilots. |
