Circa 1919 (G8) - This variation / year is easy to spot, there are no truss rods. The frame is actually a cut down frame from a 550 series car.

Circa 1930 (G14) - The 'halo effect' on the litho is hard to detect on the red boxcars, but look closely at the "BUILT IN THE / IVES SHOPS' logo on the bottom next to the door, on the 1929/1930 versions the middle of the oval logo appears 'haloed out when compared to earlier versions where there's a serif line through the middle.
