1918 Herald Boxcars

Cars on this page have been dated to 1918 based on their construction, they have early type B - M style trucks with very heavy, highly detailed definition in the trucks. It is believed that the dies IVES used for these trucks wore out quickly over the years and only earliest models show this type of crisp detail. These cars also have twist tab couplers with the holes still present from when they were riveted to the frame. Also of interest is the Ill. Central car below which has what we believe to be the later 'halo lettering'. Also note the litho on the NYC car which has the earlier litho with the "American Car and Foundry litho".
