1913 Herald Boxcars

Early versions all have T-Trucks, "POST NO ADVERTISING ON THIS CAR" doors, rivet couplers with "Pat. 1912" on bottom, but the identifying feature for these very first herald cars is on the inside - they should have three 'arch' spreaders and a similar basecoat (color on which litho is applied). Note also the early litho on the CB&Q, Santa Fe and Rock Island cars which has no corner braces.

Note that this car has no corner braces.

Here's a rare one, earliest Santa Fe with inside door frame and litho roof.

The important thing to notice in the six cars above is that they are all 1913. They all have the same base coat color and they all have three arch shaped spreader bars.
