54 Gravel Car  (Circa 1904-09)

Lithographed horizontal red and black stripes - some collectors consider this a variation of the car below, actually Ives just put the lithographed sheet stock in the tooling sideways.

Vertical striped lithograph gondola - note the gold edging , this car is also known to come with butterscotch stripes, which is shown below and a blue / white stripped litho like the 60 series gondola from this era.

Early cherry striped gondolas above and below.

We just have the picture to go on with this one, but the stripes besides being sideways would appear to be cream and black - the frame appears to have white springs.

The brown or butterscotch is one of the scarcer colors, the horizontal stripes are unique.

Stripes are light red and white

Somewhat of a mystery, but there are a few of these around. The lithographed stripes on this car are red and white, plus the frame is from a passenger car and the steps have been cut off. Some collectors theorize that these were made to go with the very early lithographed box and stock cars, but this car has loop couplers and the 1st series box and stock cars have hook couplers. They do have this frame, but the steps are not cut off. Best guess is that Ives ran out of the other frames and cut up some passenger frames.  The example below is also red/white with a passenger frame - this one still has the steps but they are flattened.

Here's the first Cherry striped one we've seen with the full frame and steps.

Here's the only car on this page with a hook coupler, similar to Brooklyn cars.  (all others have loop couplers). This would probably be the latest car on this page.

Circa 1905 - Mohawk frame - Blue / white above and Red / white below.

Solid Cream litho, similar to floor train version. The example below is a floor version which has a completely unique lithograph with the number 154.

Same litho as the previous one, but cream and brown.
