53 Box Car  (Circa 1915-30)
blackened wheels and well defined frame

Circa 1915-20: Early red litho on a later frame. Note well defined frame.

Circa 1917-28

The most common of the box car variations, this one has the same litho as the pre-1915 model except the litho is white. Note the detail is a dark maroon.

Circa 1929-30 - The very last variation of the box car this one has the obvious red roof, but also note the color of the corner slates and door are a light gray in color.

Note the word IVES is missing from top right

Here's an example where the litho has shifted up several centimeters. We're not sure if this was done when the sheets for this car were lithographed or when they were cut with the press.

A different variation in the litho with green being the contrasting color. We've seen this frequently in the stock cars, but rarely in the box cars.
