No 3237 0-4-0 (1926-1930) | ||||||||||||
Circa 1926-1927 - Cadet Blue with steel frame and cast iron 'snow plow' pilots. Note also that the hatches and doors are part of the cab stamping. The motor on this one is the 'narrow' version.
Circa 1926-27 - Harder to find, but except for the color, same as the cadet blue one above. An end view of a blue and green variation - note that the green one has no flag holders and never appeared to have had any.
Although hard to see in this picture, the above locomotive is an early example with snowplow pilots and no extra brass trim - the color of this one is light green the same as the 3243 model from 1927.
Circa 1928 - Black 3237 with brass hatches and stamped steel pilots (early 1928).
Hard to tell but this appears original. Black body with brass inserts. Frame has snowplow pilots.
Circa 1929 - Cadet blue 3237 with four brass doors, die cast pilot and wide motor.
Circa 1928 - Light green variation with brass hatches, doors and the wide motor. The engine above has stamped steel pilots and is from early 1928, it probably came with either 241 series cars or maybe 187 series cars Below is an end view of similar 1928 locomotive with it's stamped steel pilots and blank brass plates.
Circa 1928 - Orange cab on black frame - note stamped steel pilots (early 28).
Above (3237) and below (3237R) from 1929 with die cast black pilots, this engine was used to pull the rare Northern Limited.
Circa 1930 - This black cab, orange frame variation is a color match to the long cab 3245. We've only seen two of these and both had holes punched to hold the brass ventilators, but they were not there and as far as we can tell were never there, some 1928, 3237s have the vents embossed into the sides and brass vents inserted over them. Doc Robbie once said that 3245 short cabs had the vents embossed into the sides and brass vents over the top, while 3245 long cabs had smooth sides (like above) into which the brass vents were installed. We know at least one of these was found with a set of 1930 transition freight cars and may have been one of those end of production paint jobs to clean out the factory.
