Special Display Models in White  (1921-1924)

To the best of our knowledge these White sets were made as special display models for dealers during the 1921 to 1924 time period. Some claim that these white sets were made through 1925 or later, although we have seen a couple white engines with brass plates, we have not seen any white cars with journals and at this time we believe the white locomotives with brass plates to be suspect. The white IVES sets were one of the first pieces to be 'restored' or repainted from beat up or non-white pieces. Some of these were done almost 50 years ago and are virtually indistinguishable today.

Circa 1921-1922 - The example above has gold rubber stamping, while the one below has black rubber stamping.

The picture of the white locomotive above is questionable only because it has pilot wheels with nickel rims - they could have been replacements but can't tell from the picture.

Circa 1924 - This is the latest one we're sure is original. Note this one has the R rubber stamped on the right.

Inside of cab from a white loco that dates to approximately 1923, note that it has the ribbon weights and shows that it came with the lighter frame.

The brass plate models above and below are both questionable and probably are not original, although the frame on the one above looks like it might almost be original.

A white 3242, the only one that we know of, this one is original.

Circa 1922-1923 - This white 3243 is unusual and one of a kind (according to Lou Hertz) as it's marked for the New York New Haven and Hartford. Actually I've heard from another collector who says there's at least one more.

Circa 1922-1923 - No. 187-1 Buffet car in white. Black lettering above, gold lettering below.

Circa 1924 - Above and below are two No. 187-3 white Buffets from 1924.

Circa 1922-1923 - White No. 188-1 Parlor Car - above gold lettering and black lettering below.

This particular 188-1 Parlor car has gold lettering, gold window shades, gold vestibules and gold wheels. Also of note are the black trucks that have been painted white and it has skinny 1 gauge couplers. This variation of the white cars is the earliest from 1921 only.

Circa 1924 - No. 188-3 Parlor Car with flat top multi-colored windows and gold lettering.

Circa 1922-1923 - White No. 189-1 Observation car with round top multicolor windows.

Circa 1922-1923 - To the best of our knowledge only one of these sets was ever made. The locomotive above and the No. cars below. When found this set had just an engine and three cars  - no tender

This set didn't come with an observation, it had two 185 cars.
