No. 117 Platform (Circa 1914-1930) | |||||||||||||||
Circa 1914-1923 - Painted base and painted roof. base was usually painted dk green or gray, roof can be found in numerous colors including the streaky green above, orange, red and green with speckles. Circa 1924-1928 - We're not really sure when Ives started adding the two additional seats and using only 6 posts instead of 8, but the No 117 platform was first pictured in the 1924 catalog with 4 instead of 2 seats. It also got more expensive in 1924. The example above is missing the benches, see below Circa 1923-25 - brown base with speckled roof. Green base with rainbow effect roof. Circa 1925-27 - Gray base with red roof. Circa 1929-1930 - the very last No. 117 was actually not a No. 117 at all. It was listed in the 1930 catalog as No. 228. This model had a one piece base so that it could fit up next to any of the stations. The Seats are found missing on most surviving examples and may have been sold that way at one time.
Above and below is a nice example of a No. 228 that was found in it's original box. The box is marked Station Shed and stamped 228. |
