Circa 1910 - It's extremely rare to see a 4rd series No. 2 with a smooth boiler. Now it's possible someone (Ives) switched the plates but this is the same casting as the early No. 0 and they could have used it for both numbers in the beginning.
Taking a look inside the Cab window. Below is a close up of the clockwork mechanism. RARE - Never appeared in any catalog and we can't really explain this locomotive. It apparently was sold through Montgomery Wards. The number (1502) is part of the casting, much like the raised letter electrics of this same period. |
