This is the No. 17 from 1929. This one came right out of the box from a 1929 set. The motor is pure American Flyer, the wheels are die-cast and are often found deteriorating right off the motor. Another 17 right out of an original set, this one has an American Flyer mechanism with screw on key Is this a No. 17 from 1929? The casting and motor are 100% American Flyer, except for the Ives brass plate under the cab window. This came out of a boxed freight set with the number 46 on it. The 1929 catalog shows Set No. 46 as being sold with a No. 17. |
