63  Gravel Car    (Circa 1903-09)

Circa 1904-06 butterscotch striped lithograph. Also note the rolled edge used at the top

No 63 with red/white stripes.

The one litho we haven't seen would be the black/red like the 50 series

Blue / Cream lithograph, again with rolled edge. Note that all the striped gondola's have the middle frame ( 3rd Series) with lithographed springs and steps. They also have the rolled edge at the top. We would assume that somewhere there are examples of these early stripped gondola's with a 2nd Series frame, but we have yet to find one.

two brakewheels

More highly detailed than the others on this page, The 63 gravel car above also has brake wheels, something usually only found on some of the 9" freight cars. This variation has the 4th series frame with the top edge rolled in - this version also has the number lithographed in lower left hand corner. In the photo below you can see the floor hatching, also found on the 4th series frame (1907-08).

Crosshatch interior

Circa 1906 - the example above has a 3rd series frame - note the two below, one has a 4th series frame and the other a 5th series frame.

The examples above and below are the same except for the frame - the one above has a 4th series frame, the one below has a 5th series frame.

This example is eggshell white with black detail, it has a plain frame and shiny tin interior. Also note that it has only one brakewheel. This car has a shinny tin inside and can also be found in a floor train version.

Very late production

Circa 1909 - plain litho body and plain frame, above in red, below in green

Painted cars may have been post 1910

Here's a late red one with a floor train base but track wheels.
