567  Caboose    (Circa 1913-21)

 

Circa 1914-1915 - The first two years this was actually cataloged as a No. 557, Ives changed the number to 567 in 1915. The 4 wheel caboose always carried the 67 number and as observed in other cars in this series the presence of an early type I frame, does not necessarily mean that the car is pre 1915. The 557 caboose above is relatively easy to date as it has "THE IVES RAILWAY LINES" lettering which if you notice where the slots are punched for the doors (used on 67) would be partially obliterated by the doors if there were applied (see similar 67) . This car also has the couplers riveted to the frame. The example below has the same frame, but a later lithograph.
