The boxcar pictured above is the earliest of the two variations pictured here. It has the gray frame and gray roof. The car pictured below is later with it's black frame and roof.

This example has an unusual wood grained roof, this one is lithoed most are painted. I'm not sure what's happening here, have seen this roof on a couple freight cars.
